775 Lvl Crusher Chute Project
Details about this Project;
THE PROBLEM:
Client required new structure free standing from apron feeder, so the material deposited in ore pass do not fall on apron feeder blades but rather in chute from where it is moved by apron feeder to crusher.
OUR SOLUTION:
The client asked the engineer to redesign it so the chutes rest on its own support structure to lessen the impact. SOLHAR had the privilege of being awarded the contract to fabricate the new design. We were under a lot of pressure because the mine required all work to be delivered in 3 weeks. We were able to deliver it in 2.5 weeks.
Our client is very happy with the new design and the time and quality we were able to achieve.

Riverton Clarifier Refurbishment Project
Everybody in Kimberley knows the huge challenges everybody in Kimberley are facing for the most couple of years regarding water availability and quality.
We were asked if we would be able to assist in the refurbishment of the clarifiers at Riverton during the last shutdown
SOLHAR is always eager to assist where we can uplift our community.
Sol Plaatje Municipality reported on Saturday that Ekapa Mining CEO Jahn Hohne, together with his team of 10 engineers, had joined in the repair and refurbishment efforts at the new Riverton Water Purification Plant. Hohne highlighted his company’s involvement in the operation in terms of the refurbishment and repair work that is being undertaken.
“It was a bombshell once we agreed to clean and repair the clarifiers to see in what state, they were in once the water was drained.”
“The cleaning and removing of the sludge that has accumulated over years was the first big hurdle to overcome that took most of the time.”
“Once it was clean we realize that most of the blades that is supposed to move the material to the drain point have either corroded away or has broken.”
We fabricated completely new blades for 4 of the clarifiers and installed them within the shutdown time frame.
I am proud the say that due to this work the capacity of water being able to be pumped to Kimberley has doubled which resulted that we have not had any water shutdowns since then and the quality of the water has hugely increased.
Here are some pictures taken by the SOLHAR team BEFORE cleaning started;
Here are photos of the rest of the project as it unfolded;

463 Bucket Refurbishment Project
Ruark from GHAAP Engineering and Field Services approached SOLHAR to assist in this refurbishing project for his client. GHAAP operates from Danielskuil area and we brought the bucket to Kimberley to repair. Below you can see the process of this refurbishment. Thank you Ruark and the team for your countless hours of work you put in to complete this job.
Here the SOLHAR team is seen stripping off the 463 Dump Truck 's bucket from it's chassey:
Having to remove the bucket from the dump truck, we needed to lift the bucket by means of a crane and placed it on a lowbed for transport:
Watch the videos of loading the bin:

Abnormal load on its way to Kimberley:
Bucket arrives at SOLHAR to start refurbishment process:
Our specialized team starts to identify high wear areas on the bucket:
Assessment of areas to be removed and replaced:
Lifting 20mm liner 500 brinell hardness over the side of a truck to be welded in position. (Ruark does not work without his dog):
Due to the size and weight of the loader bucket, a tandem lift was required to turn bucket to accommodate welding:
Here we are welding the new liners onto the inside of the bucket:
Our job is complete on the inside! New liners for wear at the bottom of the bucket:
New liners for both sides of the bucket:
Sandblasting and completing the paint on the outside of the bucket:
Here we are making this old bucket look pretty with a full refurbishment:
The completed bucket refurbishment job delivered back to the mine and on time. Well done SOLHAR and GHAAP for this combined effort!
